Allplan 2024-1 introduces enhanced tools and cloud-based solutions for sustainable design and accelerated project delivery

Munich – ALLPLAN, provider of BIM solutions for the AEC industry, has announced the latest update of Allplan 2024 which further accelerates productivity and innovates design-to-build workflows. The Allplan 2024-1 service release delivers extended tools to plan and execute construction more efficiently. New cloud-based processes and enhanced BIM functions support more sustainable design and accelerated project delivery.

"Allplan 2024 has truly revolutionized our workflow", says Riccardo Fontana, CEO of the Italian engineering office Inoving Studio Associato. "The productivity benefits are evident from the moment we started using it. Tasks that used to take hours now can be completed much faster, allowing us to meet tight deadlines with ease. The software seamlessly integrates into our design to build workflow, empowering us to deliver projects more efficiently, safely, and in an eco-conscious manner", Riccardo continues.

Eduardo Lazzarotto, Chief Product & Strategy Officer at ALLPLAN adds: "Our latest Allplan 2024-1 service release marks a significant leap forward in construction efficiency. With expanded tools, cloud-based processes, and enhanced BIM functions, we're empowering users to plan and execute projects with unparalleled efficiency. This isn't just about faster delivery - it's also about enabling sustainability and raising quality. By streamlining workflows and accelerating project timelines, we're enabling our users to invest more time and energy in what truly matters: designing outstanding architecture, engineering robust transportation infrastructure, and constructing a better, more sustainable built environment."

Improved BIM workflows for architects and engineers

Allplan 2024-1 now features seamless integration with One Click LCA (Life Cycle Assessment), enabling quick and easy analysis. This tool helps users assess the carbon footprint of buildings, evaluate materials and construction methods, and optimize BIM models for sustainability. With automatic transfer of BIM attributes to the LCA cloud, users can generate reports effortlessly. Plus, any model changes automatically update previous LCA adjustments, eliminating the need for remapping.

The creation of provision for voids can be a time-consuming process, especially for larger and more complex projects. To perform this task more quickly and smoothly the performance of this functionality has been optimized for version 2024-1, resulting in substantial time savings. What used to take minutes can now be achieved in seconds. In addition, the optimization of attribute mapping and the application of imported cylindrical geometries from IFC files for void creation have been further enhanced to make designers 'day-today work even more efficient.

Compliance with current country-specific standards is essential for the work of structural engineers and detailers. For this reason, the Shape Code Manager was integrated into Allplan 2024-1 to support customer-specific reinforcement shapes based on the new British Standard BS 8666 2020. This makes daily work noticeably easier, not only in the UK, but also in many other countries that use the British Standard or customer-specific reinforcement shapes.

Smoother collaboration through cloud-based processes

Cloud-based processes support efficient design to build workflows and underpin collaboration. Advanced combination of 2D plans and 3D models through the Overlay Manager enables easy interaction and interrogation to clarify uncertainties, identify discrepancies, and conveniently raise issues. Users can now visualize multiple drawings together with models, markups can be made and saved in issues and slideshows, conveniently extending federated models with 2D plans. Timesaving IFC file previewing through the new Allplan Cloud Viewer enables users to rapidly view and check visually before fully uploading and creating a revision. Allplan 2024 can also be seamlessly integrated with the BIMcollab issue management tool, with improved information content for issues, enhancing collaboration, reducing errors, and accelerating checking processes.

Extended tools for construction planning

Built-in construction planning tools now include a Technical Preview introducing sheet pile walls for excavation shoring, expanding options for precise planning in construction projects. These profiles, available in single, double, and triple forms, along with corner profiles, enhance flexibility and support varied terrain conditions. Parametric components are utilized for positioning easy adjustments. This addition complements existing retention elements like bored pile walls and soldier pile walls, along with ground anchors, offering comprehensive solutions for groundworks.

The BIM2 form Add-on for Allplan 2024 now incorporates Peri TRIO, expanding options for cost-effective formwork planning. Traditionally, companies either handle formwork planning manually or rely on external providers, incurring significant costs and project control challenges. With this tool, automated assignment of formwork wall components, including Peri TRIO, is facilitated, alongside existing options like MEVA Mammut 350 and MEVA MAMMUT XT. Allplan users can now efficiently plan with various formwork systems, reducing outsourcing expenses significantly.

Availability

Allplan 2024-1 is available via the Auto Update function in Allplan or on Allplan Connect. Allplan Cloud services including Bimplus Pro is included with Allplan Subscriptions.

For more information, visit: Features Allplan 2024

Munich - Green IT is on the rise at ALLPLAN, the global provider of BIM solutions for the AEC industry: Through a partnership with the German AfB social & green IT, 351 discarded company laptops, PCs and smartphones were given a second life last year. AfB refurbished, wiped and resold this hardware in an environmentally friendly manner. This extended the useful life of these devices from four to many years, which is not only ecologically sound but also promotes social inclusion. The results of these efforts have now been presented to ALLPLAN in a certificate.

AfB is a recognized green IT company. "Partnership-based, reliable, sustainable - the cooperation with ALLPLAN proves how the circular economy can succeed in the IT industry," says AfB Managing Director Daniel Büchle. Since 2022, AfB has been carrying out pickups at ALLPLAN, deleting data storage devices with certified software, checking devices and refueling them with the latest operating system.
3D Printing Meets Industrial Construction: Europe's Largest 3D Building is Being Built in Heidelberg/Germany

Following Germany's first printed house, a consortium of Mense-Korte and SSV Architekten are now dedicating themselves to Europe's largest printed building. For the design of a server hotel for Heidelberg iT, the planning offices relied on, among other things, the software of ALLPLAN, a provider of BIM solutions for the AEC industry.

Munich - Following Germany's first printed house, a consortium of Mense-Korte and SSV Architekten are now dedicating themselves to Europe's largest printed building. For the design of a server hotel for Heidelberg iT, the planning offices relied on, among other things, the software of ALLPLAN, a provider of BIM solutions for the AEC industry.

Mense-Korte ingenieure + architekten are the German pioneers of 3D printing in construction and are known for Germany's first 3D-printed house in Beckum. In Heidelberg, their expertise in additive construction is now in demand for another pioneering project: together with SSV Architekten as ARGE, the planning and construction supervision for the printing of a server hotel for Heidelberg iT is being created. This is the first time in the world that 3D printing technology has been used in industrial construction. At the same time, this is the largest printed building in Europe to date. For the architects, the project offers the opportunity to further explore the potential of the new construction method. In at least one respect, the process has already been further developed since the house in Beckum.

"For us as pioneers in 3D printing, using Allplan is a key advantage. It not only supports us in realizing unique and innovative building projects like this one, but also allows us to further maximize the potential of this new construction method," says Waldemar Korte, architect and partner at Mense-Korte.

170 hours printing time for the building shell

The new building is an impressive 54 meters long, 11 meters wide, and 9 meters high. Printing has been in progress since March 31, with the shell of the building to be completed by the end of July. According to the client KRAUSGRUPPE, the pure printing time is only 170 hours, while only two construction workers are needed on the building site. According to architects Waldemar Korte (Mense-Korte) and Jan van der Velden-Volkmann (SSV Architekten), this construction method requires considerably more discipline. The special attraction of the technology, on the other hand, lies in the fact that 3D printing can be used to generate free-form shapes much more cost-effectively than with other construction methods and materials.

Planning again in Allplan

Old acquaintances who already played an essential role in the building in Beckum are once again involved: Mense-Korte have been working with Allplan since the program was first introduced, and so the planning for the server hotel in Heidelberg was also carried out using, among other things, a 3D building model in the BIM software. In addition, PERI 3D Construction is involved with its giant COBOD BOD2 printer, which prints the vertical elements of the structure. Heidelberg Materials (formerly HeidelbergCement) is also involved again as the manufacturer of the printing medium. The latter has since been greatly improved, particularly with regards to sustainability.

Allplan 2023-1 provides innovations for design and planning of buildings, infrastructure, and construction projects

Munich – The Allplan 2023-1 service release offers enhancements as well as a wide range of innovations for buildings, infrastructure, and construction projects. Specific highlights for architecture include superior integrated visualization tools, accelerated design workflows and model quality management advancements, whilst engineers benefit from the time saving integration of manufacturer content. Bridge engineers value further analysis software integration capability and superior tools for verification of Eurocode compliance. Contractors, project teams, and those on site, can now also more easily work with and convey BIM2Field requirements.

“We are delighted to promote several new features within this interim release, that support more efficient design to build workflows for our clients across architecture, engineering and construction sectors”, says Eduardo Lazzarotto, SVP Product & Strategy at ALLPLAN. “Within this release, integrations with Nemetschek Group companies and industry partners are particular highlights, together with workflow developments via our Allplan Cloud services that boost users with connectivity and provide efficiencies right into the construction phase.”

Highlights for building design

When it comes to presenting projects to customers and project partners, visualizations, 3D panoramas and videos are the best way to fully convince stakeholders. The visualization tools available directly in Allplan offer the latest technology for this. Now with the new Redshift render engine from Maxon integrated, GPU accelerated rendering is provided as well as additional camera effects such as fisheye, spherical and stereo spherical outputs for VR applications. The speed and realistic effects will impress and increase the chance to secure projects.

In architectural offices especially, there is a growing need for accelerated 3D design and visualization workflows that support dynamic decision-making in the design process. Twinmotion is a real-time visualization tool from Epic Games, Inc. A new Technical Preview of the Twinmotion Direct Link in Allplan 2023-1 streamlines a data exchange workflow, enabling on-the-fly one-click syncing of Allplan models with Twinmotion in real time.

Increasing model quality in the early design phase can result in less errors and efficiency gains in later stages. The easy-to-use functionality of Solibri Inside allows designers to perform checks and identify errors – all in one place – from within the BIM Explorer in Allplan. The free standard package from Solibri supports model-based or information-based checks, such as door and window clearances and level of information (LOI) checks.

Another quality enhancing approach is the integration of the Schöck catalog in Allplan that offers users numerous modeling advantages such as flexible working methods, increased design accuracy as well as time and cost savings. Direct access to the latest installation parts is provided via a web service, which ensures that the latest product data is available directly in Allplan.

Highlights for infrastructure design

Users of Allplan Bridge 2023 are now able to synchronize analytical models over the Allplan Cloud (via Bimplus) with LUSAS finite element analysis software. In the first release of this connection, this will support concrete box girder bridges, with or without pre-stressed tendons, with more bridge types to be supported in the future. Via the Allplan Cloud, analytically relevant entities from Allplan Bridge can be transferred to various structural analysis solutions for further processing, providing users with more flexibility to utilize external analysis software of their choosing.

A new verification example enables users to fully demonstrate and verify the calculation methods used in Allplan Bridge for reinforcement design and code-checking. For this a simply supported single-span pedestrian bridge designed as a prestressed concrete girder with a single solid T-shaped section with haunches is used. This example will help users to fully understand the inputs and the results provided.

Highlights for construction planning

By using tablets, many tasks, such as comparing exact measurements, can be solved directly on the construction site with the help of the BIM model. To make handling simpler, Bimplus now offers a new flexible Toolhub. This allows the Project Navigator to be conveniently moved, docked, collapsed, or hidden using drag & drop – enabling users to view the entire model in full-screen mode on a tablet, for a much better overview of the project.

Further to Allplan’s comprehensive quantity take-off functionality, there is now an Allplan Cloud-based solution to conveniently generate quantity take-off information, say on-site. Now users can easily extract the quantities contained in a BIM model in Bimplus, for example, to estimate the materials needed for different construction phases. This offers substantial time savings versus manual approaches together with more accurate data, and reduced risks of errors, avoiding wasted materials and additional costs.

Availability

Allplan 2023-1 is available via the Auto Update function in Allplan or on Allplan Connect. Bimplus Pro is included with valid Allplan Subscription or Serviceplus contracts.

Optimizing design processes and reducing costs are the focus of this year's trade fair appearance

Munich - At BAU 2023, April 17-22, ALLPLAN will present its portfolio of solutions for interdisciplinary collaboration between architecture and engineering firms, precast factories and construction companies in Hall C5 at Booth 322. For the first time, the Munich-based software company will present itself with its sister companies, including Bluebeam, CREM Solutions, dRofus, FRILO, Graphisoft, Nevaris, SCIA, Solibri and Vectorworks, under the umbrella of the Nemetschek Group. With over 100 square meters of exhibition space and 13 workstations showing Allplan, Bimplus, Allplan Bridge, Allplan Precast and BIM EASY, ALLPLAN occupies the largest area at the joint stand.

The joint appearance with ten Nemetschek brands underlines the claim of the group to further optimize the collaboration between individual partners on a construction project with digital solutions in order to minimize time- and resource-intensive friction losses. “Together with all our exhibiting brands, we will show how our customers and the entire construction industry benefits from the software solutions of the Nemetschek Group today and in the future - especially looking at the major challenges that the industry is facing such as climate protection, the more careful use of resources, or the question of affordable housing," explains Yves Padrines, CEO of the Nemetschek Group.

For Michaela Heinzl, Country Manager Germany, it is all about helping customers to find digital answers to their current challenges and to exploit the potential of digitization - both within the Allplan world and through synergies with other software solutions.

ALLPLAN's trade fair presentation will focus on the issues that are currently occupying the industry: How can improved collaboration help to increase the efficiency of construction projects? How can planning processes be accelerated while maintaining high quality? What potential is there for improving the sustainability of buildings? How can the required BIM competence be built up in the company? What highlights does the current Allplan version offer?

These topics form the trade fair highlights of ALLPLAN at BAU 2023:

1. Making the right decisions with Design to Build

Design to Build with Allplan means that architects and engineers have all the tools and information they need to make the right decisions at the design stage. This includes being able to consider the construction method and manufacturing processes earlier. This makes it easier to estimate costs with accurate quantity takeoff. Powerful modeling, visualization, and cloud-based collaboration and reporting capabilities enable optimal coordination between project stakeholders.

For general contractors or developers, Design to Build means a continuous lossless data flow across all service phases. The BIM model can be used throughout the construction phase and enriched with additional information such as lean scheduling, construction site planning or additional safety aspects.

2. Increased design efficiency thanks to automated processes

Architects and engineers are increasingly required to achieve more with fewer resources, for example when it comes to designing load-bearing structures or implementing complex architectural concepts. One way to greatly accelerate planning processes is to continuously identify and automate recurring work steps. While this used to be technically demanding, Allplan 2023 provides new options for developing your own solutions quickly and easily: Visual Scripting, for example, allows any designer, even without programming skills, to automate workflows or create intelligent objects and thus gain a competitive advantage.

Thanks to the integration of numerous precast design functions in Allplan 2023, engineering offices and precast plants can now design precast concrete elements of any complexity directly in Allplan. Allplan automatically creates element plans for production. The merger of Planbar and Allplan not only simplifies project coordination, but also enables new, more efficient workflows.

3. Leveraging order gaps and building BIM expertise

Not only are the right tools decisive for the success of a project. Only the correct application of the methodology forms the key to project success. In addition, proof of BIM competence by means of a certificate is increasingly required in order to obtain planning contracts. Thanks to the multi-level BIM training concept of ALLPLAN, which is based on the Professional Certification Program of buildingSMART, offices can professionally build up the BIM competence of their employees.

The new e-learning platform ALLPLAN LEARN NOW, which was launched at the end of last year, offers online learning content on Allplan and partner products that enables self-directed learning. The Start-Now lessons have been specially designed for new Allplan users. They lead step by step through a complete project: from the user interface and project organization to the creation of the 3D model, reports and plan output.

4. Using point cloud technology for thermal refurbishment

The Ministry of Climate Protection's extensive renovation campaign will continue this year. The focus is on the thermal refurbishment of existing buildings. The subsidy rates will increase from a maximum of 30 to a maximum of 50 percent.

Working with point clouds is of great advantage in refurbishment projects because they provide a holistic image of the building stock, no dimension is forgotten. As a result, there are fewer errors in renovation planning and fewer risks during the construction phase. Allplan 2023 processes large point clouds with high performance directly on the graphics card.

5. Impress customers with perfect renderings

Nothing creates a more convincing presentation and better project understanding than a visual simulation with high-quality renderings. With Allplan 2023, the powerful visualization options have once again been comprehensively enhanced. For example, visualization effects are now also available throughout the animation as well as with Realtime Render and CineRender. In addition, the new LiveSync interface enables a real-time connection to external visualization solutions such as Lumion. A Technical Preview of Twinmotion's LiveSync integration will also be on display for the first time at BAU 2023.

In addition to Solibri Inside, Allplan’s powerful issue management tools now synchronize with Solibri BCF Live Connector – for a superior workflow to assist BIM Managers and Coordinators, such that issues created in the full Solibri Office version can now be transferred centrally with Allplan and Bimplus in real-time. Here the issues can be validated by the BIM Project Manager or Coordinator, and then assigned to the responsible team members, who then receive the tasks directly in the Allplan BIM authoring solution – right where they require the information. This provides an effective and efficient method for managing changes for better productivity.

Superior Issue Management

The issue management functionality powered by Bimplus is changing the way project quality is delivered. By developing workflows within Allplan clarity and transparency is brought to change management procedures. Issues can be created in either Allplan or Bimplus, assigned to the relevant person in the team, visualized, annotated, assigned a deadline, and signed off, as well as easily tracked throughout the entire process.

Cloud-based technology

ALLPLAN is fully committed to bringing the benefits of cloud technology into all ALLPLAN solutions, to deliver enhanced and integrated workflows, across both cloud and desktop tools. This approach supports the concept of data driven decision making on projects involving substantial amounts of data and multiple stakeholders whilst maintaining a single source of truth through BIM. ALLPLAN’s cloud technology further offers huge value to clients supporting collaboration and full project coordination with both model and non-model data, remote working, multi-user functionality and intelligent sharing of project documentation.

ALLPLAN, provider of BIM solutions for the AEC industry, launches the new version of its BIM software Allplan 2023. As a connecting platform for interdisciplinary collaboration between architects, engineers, precast plants and construction companies, Allplan 2023 enables efficient coordination and collaborative workflows. The multi-material solution covers everything from masonry, cast-in-place concrete to steel and timber construction and - for the first time - precast concrete.

New version allows interdisciplinary AEC teamwork on a single platform / Coordination of materials and construction methods / Superior BIM workflows and real-time collaboration

Munich, October 13, 2022 - ALLPLAN, provider of BIM solutions for the AEC industry, launches the new version of its BIM software Allplan 2023.

The ability to coordinate different materials and construction methods in one common model enables architects to better consider the economical and sustainable use of building materials, earlier, and in accordance with environmental requirements. Engineers and construction companies can build directly on the architects' design and use it as the basis for structural analysis and detailing, MEP engineering, prefabrication and construction. Allplan 2023 supports workflows across the entire process from the initial idea to the completed project, enabling time, cost, and material savings.

"Our corporate vision is to make Allplan the most widely used central platform for the global AEC industry, enabling users to realize sustainable, functional and outstanding buildings and infrastructure," says Dr. Detlef Schneider, CEO at ALLPLAN. "With Allplan 2023, we have a comprehensive platform for efficient coordination and interdisciplinary collaboration that covers the entire design and construction process from initial design to execution planning for site and precast design. Allplan is your AEC platform to design and build together.”

Highlights for building design

When it comes to building design, productivity, quick and easy modeling is key. The properties palette has been updated to make creating and adjusting openings in walls and slabs more convenient, flexible, and swift. Simply specify the dimensions and any sub-objects – such as lintels, rabbets, or facings – in the palette, and Allplan 2023 does the rest.

Due to increasingly complex construction projects and the trend towards ever more detailed planning, data volumes are continuously rising. Terrain surveys or point clouds with many millions of points represent a particular challenge. Allplan 2023 processes such data directly on the graphics card. In this way, large volumes of data can be reliably processed without time delays or memory limits.

Designing and detailing reinforcement is also faster than before. Allplan’s automated reinforcement modeling is a stand-out feature. Now it is even more effective in Allplan 2023 with the ability to reinforce several identical walls and columns at the same time. With regard to the increasing requirements in BIM projects, the attribution of reinforcement has been extensively revised. Massimo Stefani, architect and BIM Consultant at Harpaceas, comments: “With Allplan 2023 a series of new features are provided that make the positioning of the reinforcements in the modeled structure even easier, faster and more intuitive than was previously possible. In addition to what is enabled with the numerous PythonParts developed in previous versions, the new automatic reinforcement functions of some typical elements allow you to further speed up the workflow.”

The Allplan 2023 version is characterized by newly integrated precast design and detailing features. As a result, engineering offices and precast plants can now create even the most complex of precast components in one platform using a familiar interface. This not only simplifies project coordination, but also enables new, even more efficient workflows. Reinhard Roscher, Managing Director of CAD-Forge GmbH from Graz, is also impressed by the new possibilities: "I have already had very positive experiences with Allplan 2023 as a beta tester and I am able to create high-quality plans for my customers in precast plants."

Accurately modeling steel framework is another activity that can be time-consuming. To overcome this, Allplan 2023 now lets you customize the start and end angles of the structural framing elements, as well as specify holes and end conditions. There’s no need to manually model each feature, so more detailed frames can be created in less time and to higher precision, improving efficiency of communication while collaborating with detailers, fabricators, MEP engineers, and other BIM stakeholders.

Convincing clients of creative ideas is often best achieved with atmospheric visualizations of the project. With Allplan 2023, the powerful visualization options have been extensively enhanced. Visualization effects are now also available throughout the animation as well as with Realtime Render and CineRender. The integration of the Lumion LiveSync connection improves the visualization workflow by tracking Allplan scenes and their changes in Lumion in real time.

Highlights for infrastructure design

There is a major productivity boost for users working on terrain and road plans. Allplan 2023 improves and automates plan rendering and introduces additional components and layers. This results in a reduction of manual workflows leading to significant time savings, further supported through an IFC road-compatible building structure and attributes for smoother data exchange.

With Allplan Bridge 2023, parametric modeling along axes is extended to include free parametric modeling of basic bodies such as prisms as well as associated Boolean functions. This introduces a new era in modeling, allowing bridge components, bridge abutments but also, for example, integral bridges to be modeled with maximum efficiency. Additionally, the calculation options have also been further extended, for example for external tendons.

Highlights for construction planning

Inner-city construction and infrastructure projects often necessitate accurate excavation shoring. Allplan 2023 supports the detailed design of these requirements with new functions for planning bored pile and soldier pile walls, as well as ground anchors.

Every construction site situation is different and requires individual and careful consideration, for example, for the intelligent placement of cranes, containers, or fences. Allplan 2023 provides new objects such as the ‘tower crane’ with collision detection as well as simple capacity checking, that is particularly easy to customize and can also be linked to specific manufacturer data such as tower, foundation, and jib dimensions. With tools like these, a well-thought-out construction site setup can be planned and achieved in the shortest possible time.

Highlights for interdisciplinary collaboration

No one designs a project in isolation. Now, with a host of updated interfaces and libraries, getting that information from your model and into a format that can be used by an external party is even more efficient than previously. For example, IFC, DWG, and DGN formats all use the Open Design Alliance libraries, for the most up-to-date and widely used formats. Other available formats include SAF for structural engineering, SHP for cadastral information, IFC4precast for precast concrete, and the IFC4 Reference View export has been certified by buildingSMART.

Instead of importing and exporting BCF files, the connection of the Allplan Issue Manager with the Solibri BCF Live Connector now allows issues identified during model checking in Solibri to be transferred directly to the issue workflow in Allplan. Thus, issues can be evaluated and processed, edited, and corrected directly in Allplan.

ALLPLAN, provider of BIM solutions for the AEC industry, presents its BIM software for bridge engineering Allplan Bridge 2023. The new version introduces a new free parametric modeling approach that enables the parametric modeling of an entire bridge or its sub elements, and other infrastructure, freely in 3D space. Further important product enhancements are the extensions of the national annexes as well as improved collaboration with Allplan Engineering, 2D diagrams, nonlinear temperature load, external tendons, fatigue check, and many more.

A new Era in Free Parametric Modeling enables even more Efficient Design of Everyday Bridges and Infrastructure

Munich, October 13, 2022 - ALLPLAN, provider of BIM solutions for the AEC industry, presents its BIM software for bridge engineering Allplan Bridge 2023.

After only four years, Allplan Bridge is already a market leading global BIM solution with users in 40 countries and across five continents. Many leading international civil engineering and specialist bridge engineering consultancies have already adopted the software and it has been used on projects of all sizes and types – from the everyday highway bridge to complex urban metro developments or on landmark projects such as within the world’s longest suspension bridge.

Allplan Bridge is changing bridge and infrastructure design philosophy and the demand for digitalization of bridges which is underlined by ever increasing use case testimonials and numerous satisfied clients such as the Portuguese Engineering and Architecture Consulting and Design Group QUADRANTE. José Rolo Duarte, Operations Director Transports from QUADRANTE confirms: “The move to doing projects in BIM has required a mindset shift for our infrastructure team, not just in terms of the process, but also being open to change and flexibly adapting to a new way of working. However, with Allplan Bridge, we have made a significant leap forward in this area.”

The new Allplan Bridge 2023 further supports this development as Gregor Strekelj, Product Manager Infrastructure at ALLPLAN, says: “With version 2023, a new era in parametric bridge modeling is now here, the parametric modeling of an entire bridge or its sub elements freely in 3D space using volumetric primitives and Boolean operations. This is also a more generally applicable parametric modeling technique which can be used in a much wider sense for modeling various infrastructure requirements”.

What else is new in Allplan Bridge 2023?

Easily design to key national standards
Development of the latest code-based design module has been focused on the introduction of the first 3 national annexes and their specifics. The implementation of the latest valid version of national annexes is now available for Germany (DIN EN), France (NF EN), and Spain (UNE EN). All limit states are now covered by annex-specific limit values or methods and are also referenced in the reports.

Designing more durable bridges
Fatigue check, based on the damage accumulation method, was added to the list of code checking features for Eurocode users. This feature provides the possibility to prove the safety of the engineer´s design for fatigue to the end of the design working life. The traffic loads can be input at different times to enable the change of traffic intensity or type. On each date, the “master task” is created that can contain multiple subtasks, each representing one vehicle type acting from this time on, a corresponding combination of internal forces, and a number of cycles per annum.

One analytical model for static and dynamic analysis
Allplan Bridge uses the multi-mode Response Spectrum Method for evaluating the effects of seismic loading. With Allplan Bridge 2023 it is possible to reduce the torsional stiffness in the form of a user defined factor for selected bridge elements. The reduced stiffness is used only for the modal analysis enabling only one calculational model, for static and dynamic calculations.

Powerful templating and data exchange
The best way to improve productivity is to automate repetitive tasks. Instead of repetitively modeling similar objects, one standard object could be created and used multiple times. This should not be limited to modeling only but rather applicable to the entire design process. All of this is possible by combining templating with parametric modeling. This is because a set of variables that influence the parametric model can be linked with the template’s input for an automated workflow.

Improved collaboration with Allplan Engineering
When it comes to the organization of data, every user likes to organize their data in such a way that it is most sensible to them. In Allplan Bridge 2023 this is accomplished using the “Custom tree.” In Allplan this is achieved using the drawing files. For visualizations, reinforcement modeling, detailing and drawing production the model from Allplan Bridge is not only transferred but also linked. In the new version a further “link” is established between the “custom-tree” in Allplan Bridge and the “drawing files” in Allplan, empowering controlled data transfer and improving the update process.

Optimized performance for smoother change management
The free parametric modeling approach follows the main product philosophy, namely that all the modeling elements are connected parametrically. This is true not only for the new prism elements but also for all the Boolean operations that are possible. To allow for smooth management of changes, also for larger and more complex structures, in Allplan Bridge the complete geometry calculation now uses a new and more advanced calculation procedure – “dependency tree-based solver”. This algorithm generates a tree of dependencies between individual objects such that only the part of the model which is affected by the implemented change is recalculated.

Clearly communicate structural behavior
In Allplan Bridge it is possible to display the results of structural analysis, and reinforcement design in the form of tables and 3D diagrams. In the new version the results can be visualized also in form of 2D diagrams which provide an easy and concise presentation of results and clear communication of structural behavior.

ALLPLAN, the global provider of BIM solutions for the AEC industry, today announced the availability of a seamless real-time issue management workflow between Solibri and Allplan via the OPEN BIM platform Bimplus. The workflow provides an effective method for managing changes in projects and enables a highly efficient OPEN BIM workflow for everyone involved in building and infrastructure projects worldwide.

Bimplus and Solibri BCF Live Connector enable OPEN BIM seamless data-based communication between both Nemetschek Solutions

Munich, September 14, 2022 – ALLPLAN, the global provider of BIM solutions for the AEC industry, today announced the availability of a seamless real-time issue management workflow between Solibri and Allplan via the OPEN BIM platform Bimplus. The workflow provides an effective method for managing changes in projects and enables a highly efficient OPEN BIM workflow for everyone involved in building and infrastructure projects worldwide.

Rather than importing and exporting BCF files, the connection of Bimplus with the Solibri BCF Live Connector now enables the direct transfer of issues identified during consolidated model checking in Solibri to the issue workflow in the Bimplus platform. Here, these issues can then be assessed and assigned for processing. This is particularly effective for Allplan users as the Bimplus Issue Manager is also used within Allplan and therefore enables direct processing and correction of these defects immediately within the Allplan BIM authoring solution.

“This development represents a huge step in data-based communication, pushing and raising the level of communication and coordination efficiencies through BIM. We are delighted that the Bimplus platform development directly connects our Allplan solution to Solibri”, Dr. Detlef Schneider, CEO of ALLPLAN, said. “This truly enables an OPEN BIM workflow, unlocking substantial design to build efficiencies for our users engaged in building and infrastructure projects worldwide.”

“We are delighted to see our customers once again benefit from greater co-operation around beneficial technology within the Nemetschek Group. Solibri has always represented two things to the market. Firstly, we deliver quality data around design, build and manage. Good data is at the heart of every successful project and that is something we always deliver. OPEN BIM is an important secondary consideration in all things that we do. Today we see yet another collaboration that is based upon customer value in how we all work together” – says Ville Kyytsönen, CEO of Solibri.

Cloud-based technology

This newly introduced workflow is underpinned by ALLPLAN’s cloud-based OPEN BIM collaboration platform – Bimplus. ALLPLAN is fully committed to bringing the benefits of cloud technology into all Allplan solutions, to deliver enhanced and integrated workflows, across both cloud and authoring tools. This supports the concept of data driven decision making on projects involving large sets of data and multiple stakeholders whilst maintaining a single source of truth. ALLPLAN’s cloud technology offers huge value to clients supporting collaboration and full project coordination with both model and non-model data, remote working and multi-user functionality and intelligent sharing of project documentation.

Superior Issue Management

By developing a workflow within Allplan – governed by Bimplus – clarity and transparency is brought to the change management procedure. The issue can be created in either Allplan or Bimplus, assigned to the relevant person in the team, visualized, annotated, assigned a deadline, and signed off, as well as easily tracked throughout the entire process.

With the Solibri BCF Live Connector, issues created in Solibri are also now transferred centrally in Bimplus, can be validated by the Project Manager or BIM Coordinator, and then assigned to the responsible team members, who receive the tasks in Allplan – right where they require the information. This provides a more effective and efficient method for managing changes, which in turn improves productivity.

ALLPLAN, provider of BIM solutions for the AEC industry, supports transparent BIM workflows through standardized, open data formats, enabling project partners to participate within construction projects regardless of the software they use. This is achieved through IFC, the open standard format for exchanging construction and model data. Recent examples that facilitate OPEN BIM include the certification of Allplan 2022 for Export IFC4 Reference View Architectural, for IFC 4.3 for civil structures as well as the new IFC4Precast standard in ALLPLAN's solution for precast detailing Planbar.

Smooth data exchange top priority for ALLPLAN through IFC certification and support for latest standards

Munich, June 9, 2022 – ALLPLAN, provider of BIM solutions for the AEC industry, supports transparent BIM workflows through standardized, open data formats, enabling project partners to participate within construction projects regardless of the software they use.

IFC 4 Reference View Export Certification

To further reinforce reliable collaboration and participation in building projects, Allplan 2022 has been officially certified for Export IFC4 Reference View Architectural by buildingSMART. buildingSMART is the worldwide industry body driving the digital transformation of the built asset industry through creation and adoption of open, international data exchange standards for buildings and infrastructure. ALLPLAN recently participated in shaping a new IFC4Precast standard for the fabrication of precast components and since October last year Allplan 2022 also supports the new IFC4.3 standard for infrastructure.

“We are delighted to enable interoperability for productive and efficient design to build workflows for the buildings sector through buildingSMART’s IFC standards and recent certification for the Export IFC4 Reference View Architectural”, said Thomas Müller, Product Manager Interoperability. “We are also delighted to be one of the first software vendors to also support IFC 4.3 for civil structures and to participate in shaping the new IFC4Precast standard, displaying our commitment additionally to both infrastructure and fabrication sectors.”

High quality Workflows for Buildings

The certification by buildingSMART confirms that that Allplan 2022 meets all requirements when exporting building models in the IFC4 Reference View. Using the IFC4 Architectural Reference Exchange facilitates high quality coordination workflows within the architectural design discipline to enable for example, buildup of multidisciplinary models or clash detection. Thus, reliable collaboration workflows for customers and their project partners is provided within OPEN BIM projects between all certified systems.

Optimized Workflows for Infrastructure

Allplan 2022 together with Allplan Bridge also supports the new IFC 4.3 standard. This schema has been extended specifically for civil structures. In the domain of bridges, this allows the bridge structure to be more easily broken down and used with enhanced object types to represent respective bridge elements. Further, it includes descriptions for object type, geometry, and materials. All this improves the quality of the IFC model and results in smoother BIM coordination and collaboration in bridge projects between all involved parties.

Reliable Collaboration for Fabrication

At the end of 2021, buildingSMART officially recognized the Model View Definition (MVD) IFC4precast as the “final standard”. Experts from Competence Center Allplan Precast had actively participated in the development of the new standard. This notable milestone means that a manufacturer-independent data exchange from CAD to MES systems is now available to the precast industry. Planbar – ALLPLAN’s design and detailing solution for precast concrete – allows export of all precast elements, including all attributes as well as fixtures, reinforcement, and formwork with the new IFC interface. The object structure of the precast elements corresponds to the IFC4precast standard.
